Former Director of RH Wilkins, and now co-Director of Sam James Ltd with Sam Marsden, specialist engravers based at the Goldsmiths’ Centre, London.

Studied silversmithing and metalwork at Camberwell College of Arts where he taught himself hand engraving under the guidance of Andy Bray, Ray Wilkins and Beg (his father’s engraver). After graduating from college, James joined RH Wilkins where he honed his skills under Emmet Smith.

Specialises in seal engraving, heraldic work and inscriptions and typography.
